Optimisation of transport packaging

ESTL has a broad view of the packaging sector and takes a multidisciplinary approach to optimising transport packaging. We have close contacts with suppliers of packaging materials. For example, ESTL supplies the stretch film industry with test equipment.

In addition, we work together with various manufacturers of winding machines, so that we are perfectly aware of the technical possibilities.

Finally, our homologation department provides an insight into the typical braking delays achieved on a truck.

This multidisciplinary approach ensures that we have a helicopter view of the entire chain. As a result, we can always offer the most efficient solution. In addition, our engineers develop customised solutions.

This resulted in successful partnerships with companies from various industries, such as Coca Cola, Procter & Gamble, Wella, BP, Total, ExxonMobil, Schweppes, Alpro Soya, FrieslandCampina, Wienerberger, Cargill, Nestlé, Knauf, Gyproc...

optimisation of transport packaging

Step 1: Evaluation

We use scientifically proven methods based on international standards to assess the performance of current packaging.

We verify during the packaging tests:

  • The pallet stability (EUMOS40509)
  • the forces applied by means of the tertiary packaging
  • stiffness of the shrink bundles
  • mechanical properties of the tertiary packaging

Step 2: Solutions and improvements

We use our knowledge, extensive database of test results and our "industry wide view" to generate solutions.

When proposing these solutions, we take into account the economic and practical constraints of the production environment.

Transport packaging optimisation validation

Step 3: Validation

We do not make empty promises. The proposed improvements and solutions are tested. This way, the performance of the solution can be guaranteed.

For the validation, we use the same packaging tests as during the determination of the current performance. In this way, progress can be traced.

Transport packaging optimisation implementation

Step 4: Implementation

An optimisation process is only successful if the solution is also applied correctly in production. We support you in this.

Thanks to a number of special tools, we can verify correct implementation. Our engineers are at your side with advice and assistance.
